A council-owned bus company has sparked online debate after spending more than £9,000 on customised number plates for its new electric fleet.
Reading Buses reportedly bought 23 themed registrations at around £399 each for its zero-emission buses, according to a Freedom of Information request
by the Reading Chronicle.
While some criticised the move during a cost-of-living crisis and rising fares, many others pointed out that it reflects a growing trend of businesses

The registrations reportedly include “ZEB”, referencing Zero Emission Buses for the Reading Area (ZEBRA), linking the fleet to sustainability funding
