Do-it-Yourself Transfer Assignment

We'll send you the official government certificate, known as a V750 Certificate of Entitlement, bearing the new registration mark. When you are ready to complete the transfer assignment you can either handle this yourself or let the person you are buying for take care of it. The V750 is valid for 10 years and can be renewed for longer if necessary. Once the registration mark is assigned to a vehicle there is no expiry date to worry about and no ongoing fees.

Done-for-You Transfer Assignment - transfer immediately

Select this service for VIP access to the VRM Swansea Assignment Portal where you or the gift recipient can securely submit the vehicle details online for rapid transfer. Using the confirmation letter we send you after placing your order, simply access our Assignment Portal and enter the few details required to assign your new registration in the quickest possible way.

If the vehicle documents are all in place then the transfer can be completed straight away. The vehicle documents will be exchanged for new ones that show the new personalized numberplate, usually with 2 weeks. Alternatively, if you would like the transfer completed for a special date, let us know and we will aim to complete the transfer as close to that date as possible.

Done-for-You Transfer Assignment - transfer later

Please note that if the recipient of the surprise is also the registered keeper of the vehicle (i.e., they're named on the V5C Vehicle Registration Certificate) then we advise delaying the assignment of the personalised number plate to their vehicle until after you have told them of this gift. This is because once the assignment or transfer of the new registration mark has been completed, the updated documents will be sent directly back to them by the DVLA, alerting them to the change. If you are unable to get hold of their documents without giving the surprise away, then simply choose to complete the transfer at a later date.

A New Set of Number Plates

We can send these out by First Class post before the transfer assignment is completed so that you have something to give to the recipient on their special day. If you've left it until the last minute it may still be possible to get the number plates out on time - just contact our friendly sales team to discuss your options.

Gift certificate

You could also give them a personalised Gift Certificate complete in a presentation folder and sent to you the same day that your order is placed. We use Royal Mail's Special Delivery service - guaranteed by 1pm the next weekday (excluding bank holidays) as long as your order is placed before 2pm!

Plain envelopes

If required, we can send all of our mail in plain envelopes so that we can carry out the personalised number plate transfer without that special someone finding out. There will be no mention of number plates or registration marks on the envelopes.

Please note that we do need to put our return address on all mail. This will simply say: VRM SWANSEA, PO Box 465, Swansea, SA1 8YN.

We can only send these out by First Class post upon receipt of proof of identification from the purchaser and upon notification from the DVLA that the transfer has been successful.
