Personal Registration Mark is for someone else: have a vehicle and vehicle documents. (back to QNA start)
If the vehicle documents are all in place then the transfer can be completed straight away and all vehicle documents will be replaced by new ones showing the personal registration mark. When placing an order, complete the details as yourself. We will ask you for a 'Nominee' name (this is the name of the person or company who is the Registered Keeper of the vehicle). The transfer can be completed by the purchaser (yourself) or the 'nominee'.
Transfer options explained
Self transfer service – we'll send you an official government document called a Certificate of Entitlement (V750) with the legal rights to the new registration mark shown on it. This will take around 5 – 10 working days to arrive and contain full instructions on how to complete the transfer. You or the nominee combine this with the vehicle documents and post everything to the DVLA. From the date that your application is received by the DVLA, they take an average of 14 working days to complete everything for you. This is for a straightforward registration assignment. Time scales may vary depending on the complexity of the application (e.g if you are retaining a mark of the car at the same time, it might take a little longer).

Done-For-You Transfer service – we will request that you or the nominee send us the vehicle documents. A member of our expert team will check your documents and liaise with the Swansea DVLA CTU to ensure the transfer is completed as quickly and accurately as possible saving you the time, expense and effort of dealing with the DVLA yourself. All documents will be sent back to the purchaser except the V5C which will go directly to the Registered Keeper. If you specify a date by which you’d like the transfer completed by then we will get it assigned as close to that date as possible!
If you can get hold of the documents without giving the surprise away then we can complete the transfer without the recipient knowing. If not then you can choose to complete the transfer at a later date. In this case we will send you an official Government document called a Certificate of Entitlement (V750) with the legal rights to the new registration mark shown on it. You can present this as a gift along with a letter from us explaining what documents the recipient needs to send back to us in order to complete their transfer.
