The Department of Transport releases
a new sequence of registration marks for sale
to the public twice each year, in advance of the
new car registration dates (which are scheduled
to happen on the 1st March and 1st of September)
eg.05 registrations for cars
registered after 1st March 2005 and 55 registrations
for cars registered after 1st September 2005.
The public are invited to purchase the rights
to these registration marks approximately 3 months
in advance, which can then be transferred later,
ONLY to new vehicles registered
after these new car registration dates.
Occasionally there will also be issues of previously
unreleased marks eg E prefix
plates followed by indexes 1-20
in October 2004.
Once the release date has been confirmed such
registrations will be listed on our website together
with prices. You may then place your offer to
acquire a registration mark through our site or
over the telephone in the normal way. On the release
date, your offer will be made to the Secretary
of State for Transport for consideration, on a
first come, first served basis.

The Secretary of State for Transport is not
obliged to accept any particular offer and so we advise
you to consider giving us your second and third choices
in the numbering sequence, as alternatives acceptable
to you. The Secretary of State for transport always
reserves the right to alter the price of any previously-
unissued registration mark and/or withdraw it from sale
at any time.
In most cases your offer will be accepted and we shall
begin the transfer procedure for you.
In the unlikely event that your offer is not accepted
for any reason and there are no alternative registration
marks within your budget suitable to you, then you will
receive a full refund of any monies lodged with us,
minus any payment card processing fees, which unfortunately
are non-refundable to us by our bank.
NB : Whilst our web ordering system and confirmation
e-mails do presently state that transfer works will
be undertaken immediately, obviously we cannot arrange
for any certificates of entitlement to be issued BEFORE
THE ACTUAL REGISTRATION MARK RELEASE DATE and cannot
transfer these new marks BEFORE THE FIRST REGISTRATION
DATES FOR THE NEW VEHICLES YOU MAY HAVE ORDERED (eg
1st March/1st September).
